国際バカロレアコース

A broad, world-encompassing perspective and respect for others that nurtures a global min

The International Baccalaureate course is a three-year high school program for students who seek to challenge themselves academically, mentally, and ethically.

In the first year, students prepare for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program while studying the subjects required for a Japanese high school diploma, and in the second and third years, students take courses in the IB Diploma Program. In these courses, students take six subjects: language and literature (native language), language acquisition (foreign language), personal and social studies, mathematics, science, and the arts, as well as IBDP-specific specialized subjects called the core. Through these courses, students will gain a wide range of knowledge and experience that will help them grow as learners and as human beings.

About the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program is an advanced, well-balanced, world-class curriculum.
The IB Diploma Program (DP) is an internationally recognized International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) that is awarded to students who complete the prescribed curriculum for two years and achieve the required grades in the final examinations. Students will not only acquire knowledge in each field of study, but also deepen their learning through inquiry-based learning in which students themselves are actively engaged in their studies through activities that foster critical thinking and the ability to synthesize existing knowledge with new knowledge.
In the IBDP, students take three core curriculum areas (TOK, CAS, and EE) in addition to subjects classified into six groups, where they conduct their own inquiry-based learning.

IB Learner Profile

The "IB Learner Profile" is the embodiment of what it means to be internationally minded. The 10 traits of learners shown here are the human qualities that IB accredited schools value, and they are exactly the kind of person that is sought after in a global society. In the IB course at Osaka International High School, not only the students but also the teachers will continue to evolve and grow together toward this goal.

A message from a current student

The appeal lies not only in learning English, but also in being able to learn other subjects in English!

Since I was young, I’ve had many opportunities to be exposed to English, which naturally sparked my interest in learning through English. To be honest, I felt anxious when I first decided to apply for the International Baccalaureate (IB) course, but I took the leap anyway. In the classes, instead of relying on memorization, we are expected to develop our thinking skills, and the discussion-based learning style is very different from that of Japanese schools. I was confused at first, but gradually I began to enjoy it. Every day is challenging, but with the support of teachers and friends, I truly feel that I’m growing little by little. In the future, I’m considering studying abroad at Asia Pacific University in Malaysia to major in accounting. I'm particularly interested in learning that incorporates AI, and I want to acquire skills that are essential in the coming era. The IB course at Osaka International School is a place where I can expand my potential. I truly believe it’s worth the challenge.
