How many students are in a class?

The maximum number of students is set at 15.

Can you transfer from the IB course to another course?

No, you cannot.

About how many subjects are taught in English in the IB course?
A
In the first year, about half of the classes are taken in English. Courses required for the Japanese high school diploma, such as "Modern Japanese" and "Comprehensive history," are taken in Japanese. On the other hand, from the second year onward, classes in English for the fully-fledged IB diploma increase, so all classes except for "Physical Education" and "Health" are taught in English.

What are IB course classes like?

There are many inquiry and discussion based classes. Among those are classes like TOK which doesn’t have a textbook.

Do students participate in school events with students in other courses?

Yes, for events like the sports and culture festival. Although, some events may differ.

What guidance counseling is available?
A
We provide guidance counseling focusing on universities in Japan and abroad that have special IBDP entrance examinations. We provide an environment where students can consult with IB course guidance counselors about university matriculation paths.

What kinds of students are in the IB course?
A
We have returnee students who have lived abroad, students with roots in other countries, and students who attended international schools. Of course, there are also students who chose the IB course from regular Japanese junior high schools.

Is the schedule the same as other courses?
A
It is the same: 45 minute classes, 7 hours on Monday and Friday, 6 hours on Wednesday, and 8 hours on Tuesday and Thursday. There are no classes on Saturdays.

What level of English ability is necessary for the IB course entrance exam?
A
At the time of application, a minimum English proficiency equivalent to Eiken Level 2 (CEFR B1) or higher is required. Please refer to the separate application guidelines for details on the entrance examination.

Does the IB course support study for the domestic university general entrance examination?

Basically, it’s not supported. The curriculum is set up for students to aim for the IB diploma.

Can students participate in club activities?

Basically, yes. There are some clubs that are difficult to participate in due to the time necessary to complete work to get the IB diploma.
