「GLOBAL MINDを醸成する」ミッションのもと、「国際感覚をみがく」ことを学びの特色の一つに掲げて取り組む本校では、高校国際バカロレアコース、イマージョン授業や英語４技能を強化する授業カリキュラムに加えて、放課後の時間を活用して、希望者向けのENGLISH SUPPORT PROGRAMを展開、今年も多くの参加者のもと、始動しています。
本日はその活動の様子をお伝えします。
まずは「English Commons」。
本校生ならだれでもウエルカムで、生徒それぞれの英語の課題や英会話練習にネイティブの先生たちが交代で親切丁寧に寄り添ってもらえます。「交換留学生をお迎えするのですけど、その子が蟻アレルギーらしくて、それが何でどう応対したらいいか教えてください。」
という質問もありましたが、何でもOKです。
次に、「L.E.A.P」（Learning English for Academic Proficiency)。
ワークショップ形式で、様々なトピックについて、スピーチ、ディスカッション、ディベートなどに挑戦します。対象は英検準 2 級レベル相当以上の中学生で、特に、国際バカロレアコースの受験を考えている人におすすめです。
最後に、「English Newspaper」。
ニュースリポーターになって、英語で新聞作成に挑戦します。英語や新聞作成に興味のある生徒が参加しています。
この他に、ESS(English Speaking Society)がありますが、また「クラブ活動日記」で紹介しますね。
英語は思考・コミュニケーションのための一つのツール。でも、とてつもなく強力なツール。この学校でみがきにみがいていきましょう！
"We are running the ENGLISH SUPPORT PROGRAM!
Under the mission of fostering a 'GLOBAL MIND' and emphasizing the development of 'international awareness' as one of the key aspects of learning, our school offers the High School International Baccalaureate Course, immersion classes, and a curriculum that strengthens the four English language skills. In addition to these, we utilize after-school hours to hold ENGLISH SUPPORT PROGRAM activities for interested participants. This year, we are excited to start with a large number of participants.
Today, we would like to share the activities of this program.
Firstly, we have 'English Commons.' All students are welcome, and native teachers take turns to kindly and attentively support students with their English assignments and conversation practice. You can ask any question, such as, 'We are hosting an exchange student who is allergic to ants. Could you please advise on how to handle this?'
Next, we have 'L.E.A.P' (Learning English for Academic Proficiency). It is conducted in a workshop format, where students challenge themselves in various topics through speeches, discussions, debates, and more. The target participants are middle school students with English proficiency equivalent to at least Eiken Pre-2nd grade level, especially those considering applying for the International Baccalaureate Course.
Lastly, we have the 'English Newspaper' activity. Students become news reporters and take on the challenge of creating newspapers in English. It is open to students who have an interest in English and newspaper production.
In addition to these, we have ESS(English Speaking Society ), which will be introduced in our 'Club Activities Diary.'
English is one of the tools for thinking and communication. However, it is an incredibly powerful tool. Let's continue to polish our English skills at this school!"
